COP15 reaches landmark agreement | At COP15 last month, nearly 200 countries (including New Zealand) signed a historic deal to protect 30% of the planet for nature. Govt and farmers take next step on agriculture emissions reduction plan | The Government has worked with agriculture industry leaders to adapt the proposed system for reducing agricultural emissions in a way that will protect future export growth. Results of Manaaki Whenua's 2022 Environmental Perceptions survey | Manaaki Whenua (Landcare Research) have released the results of their New Zealand Environmental Perceptions Survey 2022, highlighting that respondents consider climate change to be the most important issue facing New Zealand, but that participation rates for environmental activities have dropped on the whole. Brambles (parent of CHEP) world's third most sustainable company |
The 2023 Global 100 most sustainable companies were just announced, with Australian-owned Brambles (the parent company of SBC member CHEP) coming in third place, outranked only by Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Denmark) and Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. (USA). Congratulations to CHEP for no doubt contributing towards the sustainability success of their parent company! | | | |

AMP becomes the first KiwiSaver provider to sign up to SBTi |
AMP has been working to reduce its own carbon emissions for three years (and has already come 65% of the way towards its net zero goals). Now, it has become the first KiwiSaver provider to formally sign up to the international Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Have your say on carbon offsetting | The Climate and Energy Finance Group is conducting a 35-question survey on behalf of the Forestry Ministerial Advisory Group to understand the use of and demand for carbon offsetting in New Zealand.
