Introducing the new CLC Manager  – Megan Gallagher!

We’re incredibly excited to announce that our own Megan Gallagher (Senior Sustainability Advisor) will be taking on the role of Climate Leaders Coalition Manager. Since joining SBC in 2020, Megan has added an immense amount of value to the team, and we have no doubt she’ll continue to do the same in this new role. Congratulations Megan!

   

Directors get new tool for delivering on climate

SBC, Deloitte and Toitū Tahua: Centre for Sustainable Finance have launched the Directors' Guide to Climate Governance, which lays out what the new climate disclosure regime means for directors and enables them to get ahead of the curve around climate resilience. Fonterra and Nestlé to partner on zero carbon emissions dairy farm

Fonterra and Nestlé today announced a new partnership designed to help reduce New Zealand’s on-farm emissions, including a New Zealand first – a drive to develop a commercially viable net zero carbon emissions dairy farm. The collaboration will help both Fonterra and Nestlé accelerate progress towards their greenhouse gas emission goals. 

   

BNZ establish new agribusiness loan for green ideas

BNZ has just established a new loan available to agribusinesses with plans to introduce low emissions transport, renewable energy systems, sustainable land use or improvements to ecosystems. They've also announced a new Sustainability Linked Loan that covers both environmental and social and cultural targets for the first time.

   

Haere mai Te Whatu Ora!

Welcome to SBC member Te Whatu Ora, a new entity that weaves together the functions of New Zealand’s 20 former District Health Boards, ensuring continuity of services in the health system. Meaning ‘the weaving of wellness', Te Whatu Ora aim to build a simpler, more coordinated health system that will support all New Zealanders to live better and longer.

   

Toyota release science-based targets and sustainability report

Toyota New Zealand has this week launched its 2022 Sustainability Report, including science-based targetsits decarbonisation journey and just transition strategy. Part of that strategy will be evolving from a 'car' company to a mobility company and committing to a 46% carbon emissions reduction by 2030. 

   

Zespri releases Climate Change Adaptation Plan

Zespri has released its first ever Climate Change Adaptation Plan, outlining how the kiwifruit industry needs to adapt to a changing climate both here and overseas. The plan, with more than 40 current and future actions required, is designed to support the wider kiwifruit industry and provide a cohesive, long-term approach to adaptation. 

   

AT install HOP card vending machine at Auckland Airport

Climate Leaders Coalition signatory Auckland Transport has just installed the first AT HOP card vending machine at Auckland Airport's domestic terminal, encouraging Aucklanders and tourists alike to save significantly on taxi costs and reduce their carbon emissions by taking the rest of their trip on public transport.
