Consultations open on agriculture GHG emission price proposal

The Government has released its proposal to price agricultural GHG emissions following recommendations from He Waka Eke Noa and advice from the Climate Change Commission. Affected or interested parties have six weeks to make submissions on the proposal, with consultation closing on 18 November. Have your say here.

   

MfE and Stats NZ release marine environment 2022 report

The Ministry for the Environment and Stats NZ have just released the Our Marine Environment 2022 report. Published every three years, the report examines the most pressing issues in our oceans, seas, coastlines and estuaries and draws on peer reviewed published studies, mātauranga Māori, and data from environmental indicators.

   

Ākina opens Impact Investment Readiness Programme

Expressions of interest are open for the Ākina Impact Investment Readiness Programme, with applications being assessed on a rolling basis until all funding has been allocated. Impact-driven businesses that exist to create positive outcomes in people’s lives or for the environment AND have plans to seek investment can apply for up to $30,000. Beca Principal spearheading NZ involvement in global programme

Debbie O'Byrne, Circular Economy Principal at Beca, has been invited by the New Zealand Green Business Council to spearhead their participation in the World Green Business Council Circularity Accelerator, a programme to increase uptake of circular economy and efficient use of resources in the building and construction sector. Meridian to reinvest revenue into decarbonisation projects across NZ

Meridian Energy has announced it will contribute all net revenue from its Certified Renewable Energy product to community and business decarbonisation projects around the country. “We’re calling for applications from community groups around the country who are looking to change the way they use energy or reduce emissions in their regions.”

Hiringa Energy on the world stage

Hiringa Energy CEO Andrew Clennett spoke at the World Hydrogen Congress in Rotterdam earlier this week to share New Zealand's insights into producing green hydrogen for zero emission transport. Amelia Rentzios, Hiringa's Head of Operations, shared some of the many interesting applications for hydrogen in BusinessNZ Energy Council's Energy 101 video series, which you can watch here.
